The giant out to destroy us is the manifestation of demonic entities, they know us, our dad, grandad, his dad, they know our weaknesses & will exploit them.
Our giants are trained from the beginning & equipped to destroy us then move on to our family members.(John 10:10)

Everyday our giant will present itself with words designed to destroy our Faith. This is where the battle is won or lost.
If we allow the constant bombardment of giant propaganda to infect us & eat away at us like a cancer, we have no chance to even fight back.
We are instructed, in Ephesians 6:17 to put on our Helmet of Salvation to protect our minds from the devasting blows of the enemies shouts and in 2 Corinthians 10;5 we are told to take every thought captive.

The constant onslaught of giant propaganda is what the Hebrews were frightened of, and this is where they lost the battle.
They did not Trust in their GOD,
they feared giant propaganda.
They were paralyzed in fear.

David knew "why" and his proclamation in Psalm 56:3 teaches us how we are to respond to fear:

If we allow our giant's propaganda to defeat us, then, at the first sign of who the giant appears to be will send us fleeing in confusion.
This giant was everything the Hebrew warriors feared, I believe this is why GOD allowed him to come against HIS people. Israel worshipped man which made them fear man. So GOD allowed their worst fear to train them.

After they allowed the giant's propaganda in & entertained it, and they saw the giant and his weapons, they ran in fear. The propaganda made the giant much much worse than the actual giant he was.
We walk upon GOD's Promises not what the news and the facebook tell and show us.
David also ran as we will see, but he ran toward his giant in Faith.

When the propaganda prevails over those we look up to, their advice is not to be followed. Don't ever take advice from those who are not rooted and grounded in The Word of GOD.

David had some tough days as a shepherd, he knew as he taught us in Psalm 23; "when" we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, not "if" but "when". David walked through this valley before, and his GOD was always with him and always brought him through.

David fought evil before, he knew he would face evil again, yet he knew his GOD Is Who HE Says HE Is and that his GOD Does What HE Says HE Will DO, This is Faith, we simply believe GOD Is Who HE Says HE Is,

This stand off with the giant is spiritual, the battle will be won or lost in the spiritual, when this battle manifests into the physical realm, its already over. Our battles are won or lost in the spiritual realm, by the time we are fighting in the physical, the battle has already been decided.
This is where the battle was won.

This wasnt a giant, it wasnt a bear nor a lion, this was an enemy of GOD and as Romans 8:31 teaches us; it doesnt matter who or what comes against us, if GOD is for us, who can be against us?
David knew GOD and knew how to be on GOD's side, though he messes up bad, his heart was for his GOD and this was simply a declared statement from his heart. (1 Samuel 13{14

Every single morning and evening our giants will present themselves in our face, we cant fight them in our own strength and we can not run from them. We fight in GOD's Strength (Ephesians 6:10) and we run toward our giant.

GOD is our Rock & Deliever as David taught us in Psalm 18, David cast his Rock. Smooth because of years and years of rushing water in the river smoothing this stone out, this is a glimpse of The Holy Spirit over the years refining us as Believers until HE smooths out all our rough edges.
Why did David take five smooth stones? This is for another study but, yes, at 16 years old David fought this giant but at 50 years old this giants four giant brothers return with a vengeance. David knew these were battles and there would be many battles even though the war was already won.
