Gideon & the his 300 warriors 7/2/23
After Joshua Died...
After Joshua died at a good old age and after the people who experienced GOD's supernatural Victories died... Israel falls back into a pattern of disobedience & they always return to worshipping false gods.
God raised up judges
GOD will allow tyrannical rulers over HIS people until we: 2 Chronicles 7:14
Pattern of disobedience
Throughout Judges, we see Israel forget GOD, GOD then allows an oppressive government to rule over them, to bring them to their knees and cry out for GOD to help. GOD raises up a Judge to deliver them, we then see periods of peace, maybe eight years, twenty years, 40 years yet they always forget their GOD when the generation passes away who witnessed GOD's Victory.
Angel of adonai: jesus.
We see, again; The Angel of ADONAI (The Angel of The Lord). This is the pre-incarnate JESUS MESSIAH.
HE accepts worship, HE Commands Gideon, HE confirms HIS Commands to Gideon & HE gives Gideon the Victory over Israel's enemies.
gideon hiding and scared
JESUS finds Gideon hiding out, fearing for his life, desperately trying to hide food from the Midian terrorists who destroy Israel's crops, burns down their structures, plunders anything of value & murders them at will.
Five times ADONAI told Gideon to deliver Israel that HE had already given the enemy into his hands.
Mighty man of valor
JESUS calls us as HE sees us, not what the world or our past identifies us as.
JESUS sits and watches Gideon shaking in fear as he tries hiding what little crop they had from Midian terrorists and calls him: Mighty Man Of Valor. This is the absolute opposite of who Gideon appears to the world as, its the absolute opposite of how Gideon sees himself.
Do you see yourself as your past or as GOD sees you on the day you stand in front of HIM?
Gideon knows jesus
Gideon know his GOD and does the correct thing, he worships HIM. The Angel of ADONAI accepts his offering & worship, REMEMBER, angels will NEVER accept an offering nor worship, they know this is only reserved for GOD Almighty
After revering his god, the first command he is given:
Gideon becomes a Man and violently opposes the godless traditions passed down for the past 40 years since the death of Israel's last Judge.
No matter what society is telling us to worship we are to only worship GOD, not the gods of the land (politicians, social causes, hollywood big shots).
STAND UP AGAINST THE FALSE gods THAT PLAGUE OUR LAND!
the odds seem to be against us... GOOD! this is the way god wants it.
Gideon raised an army of 22,000 Israelites to fight the Midian terrorists that numbered approximately 135,000 soldiers.
22,000 against 135,000 seems like unfair odds, its cool GOD fixes this.
after weeding out almost all 22,000 Israelite warriors, Gideon was left with 300 men to fight against 135,000 enemy soldiers.
300 against 135,000.
Like George Washington, Gideon was asked to be israel's king after his victory
Gideon knew GOD and he knew GOD's will, this only comes from a relationship with GOD, we all have the opportunity to know GOD's Will.
George Washington went home to Mt. Vernon when they tried to make him king. Gideon went home after his victory and Israel had peace for 40 years.
In his later years, while israel had peace, gideon backslided & israel did too.
It's easy to forget GOD when things are going well, we all do it. Read that part again; WE ALL DO IT! This is a very common theme of Scripture and is Man's curse.
